Guide To Beautiful Summer Skin ❀

For years I've been searching the skin care isles of various establishments looking for the right products for my skin type. I have tried many brands that never worked for me, if anything they would cause me to have chemical burns, dry skin, dark patches. Finally with in the last two years I decided to try something else. I did a lot of research on natural based products that do wonders for your skin , in this blog I will share some of them with you.

African Black Soap

This has to be one of my favorite soaps ever. Originating from Nigeria (The Yoruba), also known as Ose Dudu . Magic in a bar, for most people. The biggest problem with this product is the misuse, or misunderstanding of it. Black soap is great for clearing dark spots, acne, discoloration, make-up. Since this soap contains all natural ingredients , it is considered safe for all skin types. I started using this product about a year ago and have seen tremendous results. Most of my hard to get rid of dark spots are gone. My skin is also now one tone instead of discolored and sun damaged.

How To Use Effectively

1. Do not apply bar directly to your skin

Wash your face and your hands, form a lather in your hands then apply onto your body. The logic behind this is to keep your soap and skin as clean as possible.

2. Do NOT panic ! Everything will be ok

Many people , myself included are intially scared off by black soap. When you first start using it you can experience dry skin, overly oily skin, and more acne. Let's just say your skin will look a hot mess at the beginning . This is called purging, in about a week or two your skin should balance itself out. Use every other day to start off, best to use at night before bed. Keep moisturizing !

3. Tone Tone Tone

A gentle alcohol free toner is the way to go. I will list my favorite one in a later post. Using a toner will help to restore the pH balance of your skin.

4. Moisturize

Never skip this step no matter what skin routine you use. Great moisturizers include; Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Hydrating serums, moisturizing creams. No matter your skin type, oily included you should use one of these products after your routine.

Most black soaps work . Make sure to read the ingredients before buying. Some soaps are just dyed black and aren't fully natural or aren't real black soap . For sensitive skin try to stay away from black soap with added fragrances . The best advice I can give is to stick to your routine, if used correctly you should see results within 2-3 weeks.

IMPORTANT : Rinse face with warm water to open pores, splash with cold water after washing to close your pores and give your face that tight feeling.
